New theatre is one of Australia’s oldest continuously producing theatre companies with a proud history embracing Australia’s social change and cultural development. Established in 1932, for 80 years, we have been presenting diverse, challenging,often controversial, theatre of high calibre. We aim not merely to entertain but to engage, provoke and stimulate.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
We are committed to serving our community by keeping ticket prices affordable, by programming plays that speak to a range of audiences and interests and by opening our doors to anyone who wishes to join us in creating memorable theatre.
A LEGACY FOR THE FUTURE
We have a long tradition of nurturing new Australian writers, directors, actors, designers, technicians and back stage personnel and we take pride in creating unique opportunities for artists of all ages and backgrounds.
NOT-FOR-PROFIT
Everything we have achieved in our 80 years has been as a not-for-profit organisation without any major government funding, corporate sponsorship or financial support. We survive solely on the income we generate at the box office, through the and indefatigable efforts of our volunteers. We value your support in helping us continue what we do.
